Our Vision:  Nelson Youth Centres contribute to the health and wllness of our community by strengthening families and enabling the emotional and social well being of children and youth.

Our Mission:  In partnership with our community, Nelson Youth Centres provides therapeutic services to strengthen the abilities of children, youth and parents experiencing difficulties. Nelson Youth Centres focuses on helping children and youth acquire skills and resources to realize their full potential. By doing so, Nelson Youth Centres strives to prevent the occurrence of future difficulties. Nelson Youth Centres is committed to being an active partner in the assessment of community mental health needs and the development of services to meet the community needs.

Who Are We?  Nelson Youth Centres is an accredited children's mental health centre that provides group based treatment programs for Halton's children and youth and their families. Our services target children who are experiencing moderate to severe emotional, social, behavioural or learning problems, which result in difficulties at home, school and/or the community.

Value Statement:

• Children need the base of a family, in one form or another, to successfully complete the transition to adulthood.

• Family focused therapeutic services builds on the strengths and skills of the family.

• Individualized treatment must be tailored to the needs of the child and family.

• Service must be effective, distinct and unduplicated in the community.

• Services must be provided at the right time, right place and in the right venue according to the needs of the community.

• Our services must be an integral part of an inter-connected network of service providers from health, social services, education and corrections.

• Services should nurture and connect troubled children and families before they become seriously at risk.
