Volunteers

Nelson Youth Centres supports the use of volunteers to assist, where possible, in the day-to-day operation of NYC and its programs. We are committed to the volunteers knowing how they are contributing to our organization, and to making their experience meaningful and useful to their personal professional development.

Volunteers are engaged not to replace staff, but rather to enhance existing services. The duties of volunteers are matched to their particular skills and interest, and they are only placed in direct client contact positions if working under the supervision of qualified staff.

Types of Volunteers:

•     Co-op students (High School).
•     Placement students from Colleges and Universities
•     Adult community volunteers

Qualifying Criteria:

•     Two references
•     Police check within the last 60 days
•     Qualifying interview by Centre staff
